The FDR Memorial pays homage to not just FDR himself and all he accomplished, but also to the triumphs of the challenging era he lived in. Located along the Tidal Basin in the midst of the famous Cherry Tree Walk, the memorial commemorates twelve years of history in a line of four rooms, each room representing one of FDR’s terms in office.

FDR stood as a voice of hope, courage and optimism during the dark hours of the Great Depression and WWII. Some of his most encouraging words are etched into the walls of the memorial and overlook sculptures of the 32nd president as a reminder to all who visit of his personal and political triumphs despite bad health and difficult times in American history.
