| The
National Museum of American History is the place to explore everything
American. Artifacts of every sort, over 3 million
objects, show
the American experience ranging from historical events to pop culture.
Explore displays that feature American wars and politics and see
significant pieces of history that impacted not only
generations
of Americans but the entire world. An example is the original Star
Spangled Banner Flag, which served as inspiration for Francis Scott
Key's
poem. Other displays include the Greensboro lunch counter from the 1960
civil rights sit-in. Lighter parts of American history are included as well. Visitors can see Dorothy’s ruby slippers or inaugural ball gowns worn by past First Ladies. All the diverse areas of American life and ideals are covered in exhibits that explore America’s history and contributions to science, innovation, transport, technology, entertainment, sports and music. ![]() coming soon!
